I have about 2 dozen desktop icons and about 12 of them have shortcut
keys assigned to them. i did this in NT and the programs always opened
*immediately* when I used the shortcut keys unless the computer was
swamped.

With Win2000 and with XP Pro, I've noticed for years random slowness
to using the shortcut keys. it's more frequent and common with some
programs than others, but what is consistent is that actually
double-clicking the icon itself starts the program immeidately.

Any suggestions??

Thanks

Registry search is taking sometime.

While I use short cut keys and they work just fine, I also use a
program http://powerpro.webeddie.com/ to provide access to most used
programs.
