Random Flashing and Closing

Internet Explorer has been messing up for some time and now
problems are occuring with greater frequency. Whenever I
open a page in a new window, all the windows flash for a
while. Also, Internet Explorer keeps randomly closing.
It's happening more and more frequently and is making
researching info for my paper difficult. It'll happen
between every couple of minutes and every ten minutes or
so. Help?
 
Oh, and I have adaware and all that, and have ran it. I've
done virus scans and clicked on or off all the options you
are supposed to in IE when there's problems. Now I'm using
that Mozilla Firefox, but I want to go back to internet
explorer if I can fix it.
