rand worksheet function

Wayne Burrows

Hi

This function suddenly started producing negative results.

The worksheet function description says that they should be
between 0 and 1.

The average of 12 randomly generated numbers in my worksheet
is around 4 rather than around 6.

Has anyone experienced this problem or have any idea why it
would happen?

I have a screen shot that shows the formula in the cell is
simply =rand() and the value showing in the cell is -0.23148.

TIA

Excel 2003? You need the latest service pack.

Do you have XL03, but you haven't applied any updates? IIRC, that was
fixed quite a while ago. If so, update Office to SP1.
