Ram Leak Correction freeware??

Hi all,

A friend of mine has an older Compaq laptop, that has become very slow. and adding ram is
very cost prohibitive for him.
is there a freeware that is able to correct RAM leaks, and possibly speed up the activities in this
computer?

Any advice or suggestions will be most appreciated,

I've been using it for three months, like it very much. Only quibble
is that there is a default setting to look for automatic updates, had
to change it because it was bringing the computer out of standby.

I use Rampage, it works pretty well on Win98 and Win2000.
Do a Google search for it.
