You must first open the BIOS and disable your
onboard video. Be sure you have the correct card
for your available expansion slot. A PCI Express
video card will only work with a motherboard
that has a PCI Express expansion slot.

**what do you disable in my Biostar M7vitpro to get the motherboard to
detect my new chip ..I only had one 256 mb chip..I am running windows xp xp2
professional

Uhm - that answer has more to do with installing a new video card and
disabling the built-in one to allow use of the new one thand anything to do
with memory/RAM.
 
You don't disable anything in the BIOS when adding new RAM. If it is
installed correctly it will be automatically detected.
