Raise Volume on Speakers

Is there a way to adjust the volume from the sound card? I have one system
that with the speaker volume all the way up the speakers still don't have
much volume. Never came across something like this before.

Here's something annoying: You've got plenty of volume controls on your
computer. Do they all work together? N-o-o-o-o. Do you have to adjust
each freaking one separately? Y-e-e-e-s.

Here are some places to look:
* Windows' own volume control: Control Panel > Sound and Audio Devices >
Volume tab (and don't forget to also check the Advanced button)
* Your sound card's volume control
* Your media player's volume control
