Hello!

I've got a question: I have motherboard with ATA133 RAID controler, but I
have only one hard disk. Is it possible to use RAID0 without another disk?

It would not be a "RAID 0" you want with only a single disk.

For a single disk, enter RAID controller bios and define a
single-drive span. Beware that there is another option, a
single-drive stripe, but the latter cannot be moved off the RAID
controller later if necessary.

IMO, there would be absolutely no point in defining RAID for a single
drive (unless you just want to practice your admin tools). If you were to
define RAID0 stripes on a single drive you would be guaranteeing worse
performance: the head would be jumping back and forth between the stripes
even if (on a normal drive) it would have been reading (more
of less) contiguously. One might argue that RAID1 might be of some use: if
you have a head crash in one area, then another area is undamaged.
Unfortunately, a head crash "pollutes" the head also, and hence drive
failures tend to be "total". Just use the drive normally, and make sure
you do backups (which you have to do anyway, even with RAID!). Save your
money, and then do your RAID when you buy a second (identical) drive.
