RAID & Windows XP

during winxp pro setup i press F6 when promted to
install "third party raid driver" after slecting the
CORRECT? driver from the list on the floppy i get the
following error message :

file \winxp\fastrak.sys caused and unexpected error (18)
at line 2108

IM STUMPED!

motherboard gigabyte ga-7vaxp

any suggestions??????

You failed to mention which RAID card your using, which model Fastrak?

Daniel,

Check the docs for RAID on your Giga-Byte mobo before proceeding. I'm not
familiar with the particular mobo, but my MSI mobo warned me to setup the OS
using the "normal IDE" controller, NOT the RAID controller. Subsequent
directions were to switch the HDD to the RAID controller only after the OS
was installed. [Not following those directions did indeed result in an error
during install . . . as I didn't read the manual carefully until after I had
the problem the first time <g>.]

Daniel, try using the Primary IDE channel instead of using any Raid
Channels for Installation. Once the installation is
complete you can install the Raid Drivers and then switch the hard drive
over.
