RAID questions

I've never had any RAID experience but am considering a RAID 0 configuration
for my next PC. Question is does a RAID 0 configuration have one drive
letter or two in Windows Explorer? Also can I configure my RAID 0 array as
my "C drive" and have another drive (D) as a backup drive?

Thanks.

One letter. windows will see the two (or more) drives only as one. Thus, if one drive fails, data on both are gone.

Also can I configure my RAID 0 array as

First I suggest RAID in hardware, not by the OS.
JDR Microdevises sells inexpensive PCI IDE RAIDcards.

I suggest the following URL for your query....

http://www.pcguide.com/ref/hdd/perf/raid/levels/singleLevel0-c.html

In addition:
If you post to UseNet with your TRUE, not a munged, email address then you have invited the
Swen Internet worm [aka; W32/Gibe-F] to visit you.
