Well thiers really no "converting" in that process, you'd be deleating the
RAID
set,+ you'd need to reinstall xp if running RAID 0.Simply unplug the unwanted
SATA hd,set the BIOS for SATA only, delete the RAID configuration in the post
RAID set-up,boot to xp cd,select install xp.

It all depends on the RAID setup, more info is needed on that.

My RAID is a mirror set. When I drop one of the drives, the remaining
drive boots fine.
but booting takes longer: there's a time-out lasting approximately
30-40 seconds.
Hence my question

If the mirror was created within Windows use Disk Management to break the mirror and just
repartition the second drive. If was created with a hardware controller then use their utility to
do the same. By breaking the mirror you will lose your backup if something should happen to the
drive. The time out is probably the one drive looking for the other to sync up.

Alas... the hardware controller does not permit a one drive raid set.
If I use the
drive by itself (having disconnected the raid hardware..), the raid
boot track
that's left on the drive confuses windows. It dies with the message it
couldn't
find a drive to boot from !
