radeon x1300 trouble??

I recently did some upgrading on my home system. 1.86 core duo processor
2Gig ram. Ecs Motherboard. Radeon x1300 video card. The power supply is
rated over 45 watts max output. The problem is that occassionaly on turning
the system on the monitor acts as if no video card is present. Any thoughts
on this?? I have installed the newest ati drivers, but this occurs before
the drivers are even accessed.

Thanks

Which model and brand of X1300 card did you get? Which model ECS mainboard?
Your power supply ( I'm assuming you have a 450W) is which brand? Does the
X1300 have an auxilliary power connector that's not hooked up?

let me try and remember this since I am not at home and that computer right
now. The power supply is an orion HP585D. max output of 585watts. the
mother board is an ecs pt890t-a. the video card is at ati radeon x1300 pro.
I do not believe that it has a separate power connection, but I will chek
when I get home.
Thanks

With that m/b, yours is a PCI-e X1300 Pro so no auxilliary power
connector....the AGP version does have one but since the PCI-e slot supplies
plenty and your card draws about 25W max it's not the issue. Nor is your
p/s. Try the obvious like removing and reseating the video card. If you're
using VGA try DVI and see if it still happens. If your currently running DVI
switch to VGA and see if it happens. Make sure there's nothing else loose.
The $50 new ECS board with a VIA chipset would be my next suspect, but try
your card in another box and see if it behaves there before assuming this.

See if a newer BIOS is available from ECS.
