Radeon 7500 display problem

I have a Radeon 7500 card fitted in a Dell Optiplex GX260 running Windows XP Pro. The software is configured for fast user switching

I have display corruption, seen as text smearing (black of text moves to a different horizontal position on the screen) when in almost any application (ie6, outlook express, word, excel) This gets worse when any scroll feature is used. It occurs in whichever user desktop I go. (Also note that cannot retain individual user profiles for displays

I have updated BIOS, Radion 7500 drivers, Radion 7500 BIOS, Radion software, but all to no avail. The problem clears if I remove the Dispaly adaptor and is not apparent on any DVD vide

Tigerdigger,
Your problem might stem from your Video Card driver. When you said you
downloaded Radeon software was this from Dell's homepage or ATI's? I would
suggest downloading the latest drivers off of ATI's website:

Thanks for the reply.

I have tried drivers from both the DELL and ATI sites and both seem to exhibit the same problem. As far as I can tell I now have the latest drivers, BIOS for evrything, yet still get the same problem. The effect starts as minor smearing but rapidly deteriorates into display instability, to the extent that nothing is readable. The only thing that seems to have happened since buying the pc is that I've reguarly carried out Windows XP updates

I have also spent some time trying to cear off any signs of the old drivers (not a straightforward task with Radeon!) - I don't understand why uninstall programs manage to leave so much behind them!

Can you open up your computer and see if the fan is still spinning freely on
your video card? Some of what you describe can be caused by a video card
overheating.
