R9700 won't detect TV

I have connected my Radeon 9700pro ViVo to my tv with a composite cable, but
my Gfx card will not find my tv. If i use force detection my tv screen is
still black.
Any ideas guys?

I have the exact same problem with my Radeon 9500 - I know its worked in
the past - but maybe ATI expect me to do a voodoo dance or something to make
it work...

If you haven't already done so try shutting everything down, connect the
cable to the TV, turn the TV on, _then_ power up the computer.
