quote problem

I just took over someone's computer at work, and he had Word set up fo
German or French or something. Basically, the single quote o
apostrophe is behaving strangely - nothing appears on screen when I hi
that key, but two appear when I hit it again (one opening, on
closing). If I hit it and then hit an 'e', I get an accented e, and s
on.

The dictionary etc. is all set for English so that's not the problem.
can't find anything in the help file about changing this back so th
quote works normally. Can someone help, please

You have correctly diagnosed the problem; the keyboard is set to an
international layout. Go to Windows Control Panel | Regional Options | Input
Locales (or corresponding tab in your version of Windows) and change to
English (United States).
