We've noticed a strange behavior when editing a comment (Word 2003) in
the comment pane (that is, with balloons turned off).
If you select text within the comment and then start typing, the
selected text ISN'T replaced by the characters you type. It's as if the
"Typing Replaces Selection" checkbox (in Tools> Options> Edit) is
disabled for comments, unless you're using the balloons.
Happens on all of our machines. Doesn't seem to matter if tracking is
on or off, and never happens if we use balloons. Is this by design? Is
there another way? (We unanimously loathe the balloons....)
TIA
