Quick Parts won't save

I have Outlook 2007 on a new computer. I have been trying to create a Quick
Part but it will not save it. When I first save the selection and go back to
the Quick Part gallery it is there. But if I exit Outlook and launch Outlook
again, when I look at Quick Part, what I just created is not there. I also
noticed that I do not have a NormalEmail.dotm file in my Templates folder
which I understand is where the Quick Part galleries are stored.

I just tried this function and no problems here.

Did you follow the following steps:

[1] Open Outlook 2007

[2] Open new email and type the text that you want to re-use

[3] Select the text

[4] Click the "Insert" menu at the top of the screen, then "Quick Parts."
Click the "Save Selection to Quick Part Gallery" button

[5] Name your "Quick Part" text. In the future, when you want to save
yourself some typing and insert this Quick Part into an email, select
"Insert," then "Text" and then "Quick Parts" and select the name of the
Quick Part. That Quick Part text will be automatically inserted into your
message.

Does it work correctly for Word and do you have a normail.dotm file?
Have you applied Service Pack 2 and additional updates for Office 2007
already?

Another reason why this could happen is because Outlook doesn't exit
properly.
Which add-ins do you have installed?

Roady,

In Word, Quick Parts works correctly.

Looking at the Add-ins the only non-Microsoft add-in is for iTunes. My
understanding is that the iTunes add-in is needed to sync my calendar and
contacts with my iPhone. How do I temporarily disable it to see if that is
what is causing the problem?

I found how to disable the iTunes add-in, but the problem remains.

SP2 and all updates for Office 2007 are all applied.

Any other ideas?

If the normalemail.dotm file does not exist, Outlook should automatically
create one upon exit.
Another thing you could try is to start Outlook as an administrator once,
create 1 Quick Part in a new message, send that message to yourself and then
close Outlook. Wait until Outlook has shutdown completely and then start
Outlook normally again; does it work now?

To start Outlook as an administrator, hold SHIFT when right clicking on an
Outlook shortcut and choose; Run as Administrator...

Roady,

Thanks for your help.

I started Outlook in admin mode, but still Quick Parts won't save.

Other things I've tried:
- turned off McAfee
- in msgonfig disabled all startup items
- disabled Apple Mobile Service & Bonjoure services

Still no Quick Parts and no NormalEmail.dotm file is created.
