Quick Launch icons disappear

The icons in my Quick Launch thingie keep turning into those generic "e"s.
What the heck can I do to fix it?

Favicons? If so, read below:

The favicons are actually stored in the Temporary Internet Files folder, and
so they are cleared when you empty the TIF. To preserve the favicons, you
need to save the .ico file to a safe location, and then change the icon for
the URL files. There are utilities to automate this process. Read this, from
Alan Edwards.

Favicons are only temporary until cleared from your cache.
To make them permanent:

This is normal if your shortcuts point to Web pages or locations. If you have
program shortcuts there that are on your computer, they should stay the same.
Quick launch is better for programs. Use Favorites for Web sites.

Lock Taskbar is unchecked.
Show Quick Launch is checked.
There are icons presently in the Quick Launch Toolbar, and they
function.

What am I missing?

Thanks

Hi,

Try creating a new shortcut in this folder:
C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Quick Launch

It may have been that the area was not wide enough to drag to. When unlocked
the boundaries will show and can be resized.
