Quick Launch Disappears

I have been running XP Pro for a couple of years now. All of a sudden,
my Quick Launch Toolbar has stopped showing when I reboot the computer.

This means that I have to go Taskbar>Toolbars menu and click on Quick
Launch to get it to display. I then have to reset the QLT for small
icons, and rearrange the icons. Now, each time I reboot, I have to go
through this procedure.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to why this is happening all of a
sudden? Locking the Taskbar makes no difference.

On another note, I gave up on locking the Taskbar some time ago, because
even though locked, it would gradually shrink in width -- I have moved
the Taskbar so that it is vertical on the left side, and set to AutoHide.

You need Kelly's Taskbar Repair Tool! :) You can find it here:

Awesome little bugger. ;)

1. I don't see any item which would solve my immediate problem, which is
the fact that the QL does not display after reboot.

2. It purports to have a function for saving the sort order, but this is
accomplished by manually inserted a sequence number at the beginning of
each shortcut name. Afterwards, clicking the Apply button just results
in the QL toolbar disappearing, and I have to go through the display QL
and View small icons all over again. However, the icons which I
manually renamed with sequence number prefixes do now display in the
proper order.

3. Most of the other stuff seems to be possible without this program,
maybe just a little bit difficult to find.

The bottom line is, I still have the QL toolbar hidden when I reboot.

Hi Oliver,

This is due your having another edit in place which is removing your
StuckRects2 and Desktop Streams.

Check your email, if it is valid and then run the option under Quick
Launch - Set Quick Launch as default. If you are needing more help, email
me.

Create a new user in the Control Panel > User Accounts. Then copy the
user profile to that new account and see if it works there. If so, you
can delete the old profile and let the user use the new profile.
