Queston on Resizing a picture.

Hi all,
I put a slideshow together in Power Point 2003. I had resized my pictures in
PSP 9 and then had to resize them again to have them fit in the slide.
The show was perfect including timing of the music but the pictures looked
terrible. I seemed to have lost a lot of the quality.
The original picture size is 3072x2304. Is there anyway I can put them into
PP and resize without losing the quality of the picture?
I tried using the pictures that I had resized in PSP and put them into to
Nero and the show was perfect.I would rather use PP for
the presentation. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
