I just want to know if on a a8v deluxe, i can plug an IDE hard disk on the

Yes. Promise 20378 supports RAID mode or ATA mode. Turn off
RAID mode in the BIOS and use the "ATA" driver.

Promise 20378 does not support ATAPI, so no CD or DVD drive
will work on the Promise controller. At least, that is what the
manual says. See Pg.45 :
