Questions: Softperfect's Firewall

Softperfect's Free Firewall v1.4

As far as i can tell, no newsgroup posters have discussed, in detail,
this firewall's pros & cons.

I tried posting queries about it at "rec.comp.firewall" newsgroup (ng),
however i got ZERO responses.

If possible, i was hoping that people, who have experience with this
free firewall, would be willing to share their opinions.
Please, post them.

At this point, opinions and/or thoughts regarding Softperfect's Free
Firewall's specs & user manual, would be even more welcomed pieces of
information.

Once again, please post your opinions

Thanks,
S_H

I like the compact size, the interface, the clean install and uninstall.
It's fast; I noticed no slow down of any kind while using it. It's stable.
Not 1 crash that I could attribute to SPF.

It takes a while to set up rules for all your programs going outbound and
inbound. The "learning mode" is very intense at first if you have a lot of
programs, especially programs using multiple ports. Once set up, be sure to
save your rules to a file (like I didn't), because my rules disappeared once
and I had to start over.

It's not for the inexperienced at this point in its development, which seems
to be stalled right now. It's great for the tweaker who likes to control
every port and not let the program decide for him.

I think it has great potential. A change here and there and I could like it
better than Kerio and Sygate.

I hope this helps.

I downloaded it (v1.4, 900kb)and thinking that i'd give it a
try, yet I have a question: while I saw that you can set rules
based on ports and protocal, I did not see where you can set
individual application for each rule ..........I only got the
choice for something like "any interface" or "web-interface"
am I missing something?

Thanks
