questions about XPE regarding 3rd party applications and base OS updates

Hello

Once a windows XP image is built and the computer deployed to the
field, is it possible to add third party software? ie. can the
customer add a general purpose install shield application?

Also, how does the end-user apply new patches? Can the user run
windows update and get new patches?

Read more info on DUA (Device Update Agent) this is intended to be used with
XPE.
Or you can make your own update procedures.

You can configure XPE up to level of XP Professional, but license agreement
prevent you from using certain types of applications.

So answer is: technically he can, but in real world you should check license
agreement.
