Questions about Nero 8

P

PT

I'm looking for software with which I can easily:

1. duplicate unprotected CD's or DVD's

2. create data file backups.

I was directed to Nero 8. But I found their website confusing. For example
the Nero 8 Ultimate web page describes a program BackItUp, but I'm not clear
whether this is a different program, or just a component of Nero.

In addition, the Nero 8 Ultimate program looks as though its designed for a
variety of tasks far beyond my needs.

I'm not worried about the price, as much as ending up with a highly complex
and hard to use program.

Please advise

You might check out CDBurnerXP
<http://www.cdburnerxp.se/>

I've seen it recommended in these groups before.

Also, even though the name is CDBurner if you check the Features page, it says it does DVDs as well. Plus it free.

Alcohol120% has the options to over-ride protection devices. ClonyXXL
(freebee) will detect which, if any, device is present on the cd/dvd
and a setting on Alcohol120% will avoid it.

It is possible that he is handicapped and has to use a stylus to
key in the postings. If that is the case, I guess that we can
forgive the short line length.

the time you have taken to
provide a sense of
understanding is appreciated.

however, after a number of
years here, i recommend to
reserve your time, compassion
and explanations for those
who are in need of assistance.

for cases such as these
involving mvp's who are not
qualified as professionals, it
is simply better not to
patronize their
unprofessionalism and
unwarranted remarks - no need
to feed them.

you see my friend, MVP is
really a Microsoft Volunteer
Program. MVP is not a
credential. it is simply a
general ledger account where
microsoft can calculate the
cost's they saved from not
paying for customer service.

i too could become a Microsoft
Volunteer and have a phony
credential provided, that is
if i wanted.

but i wouldn't take part in an
organization that allows and
permits the use of fear
mongering, manipulation and
antagonization. you may not
be aware but a few years ago,
bad MVP's group together like
a pack of dogs and verbally
attack people. today it is
much better now a days.

however, i do enjoy helping
people for free, during my
free time and without an ego
to serve.

you might enjoy this newsgroup
experience by simply placing
these mvp's and any others who
are just as antagonizing,
manipulative and egoistical on
your kill file.

in doing so you will not miss
anything of value from these
people and you will really
enjoy the q&a here.

in closing, as i have told
other mvp's, they are welcome
to tell the mvp administrators
to have the newsgroup rules
modified because of my
postings. i have
communicated with the MVP
program directors as well and
we seem to communicate quite
well.

until then i am within the
rules and regulations here,
unfortunately for the these so
called professionals.

btw: i should have mentioned
that there are a number of
knowledgeable professionals
who post on these newsgroups
and some of them "are" mvp's
whom i know would assist even
without an ego to feed.

This takes the cake for being egotistical, but not too surprisingly, though.
(Usually the ones who "doth protest too much" .. have something else to
worry about (like: a bit of projection, and missing their own reflection)

'nuff said.

THAT has NEVER been established (or much less, even acknowledged), by the
OP, Doug. So you're just speculating.

IF it were indeed the case, HE would have the courage to admit it when asked
about it (in which case, it would be understandable). But the FACT is, he
has never admitted that. So, I think that pretty well addresses the
validity of such a speculation.

Perhaps, if he set his line length on his outgoing messages to
at least 64 characters and use his SHIFT key to capitalize at
least one or two or three of the "i"s that he frequently uses,
we would recognize that his ability to communicate was slightly
above the newbie level.

In that case I guess it would be OK to call him 'The Scroll', I do more of
that reading his posts than actual reading. Plus I can't pronounce his name
(moniker, tag, ...).

but, ... but, ... you are giving more to an organisation by buying it's
products than you are by assisting volunteers of that organisation. The
everyday, or day to day Windows XP users (consumers?) would gain as much as
Microsoft would by the assistance the MVPs here provide.

Also, "...ego is not a dirty word..." - Skyhooks.

This, I suggest you mean, is any commercial CD or DVD that is NOT a game be
it PC, or whatever; or commerical pressed DVD movie. Typically its a
pressed CD or DVD written in ISO 9660 format, or perhaps a home made video
or movie. For instance, backing up your retail Office installation CD. Or
those with a boot agenda, with remainder in ISO 9660 format that you would
want to copy. For instance, backing up your retail or oem generic XP
installation CD.
2. create data file backups.

As long as they fit on the CD or DVD media, don't see a problem.

Nero was getting too complicated at version 5 for those 2 only needs you
address here. And, they've added alot along the way to make it more
difficult for the first time user with only a couple of basic needs when
using version 8.
