Question: What is your favorite Windows Vista feature, and why?

J

Jeff Gaines

My point was that most top posters are running OE, not that all OE users
are top posters. OE always wants to top post, you have to manually not
top post on every message - unless I've missed something in OE. Windows
Mail fixes this.

I think it's got something to do with OE being some people's first news
reader, they typed where the cursor was because it seemed the right thing
to do. Those who started with DOS (or even with Pine in Linux) and the
Trumpet Winsock and moved to OE at some point probably knew better.

Very true. However, a few days spent in any (non-microsoft) newsgroup will
show you the correct way. Top posters are generally dealt with quickly and
without mercy.

"Appropriate quoting, that's what we need."

Correct Robert. This should include options to include/exclude the post
being replied to, I mean what's the point in *always* including the OT when
the thread gets 15-20 deep?, and by the time all the replies are indented
they are practically unreadable.

Increased security because in the long run it will make my days less boring.
I can go back to actually fixing computers and networks instead of the mind
numbing task of removing malware.

I forgot the snipping tool. I don't use it a lot but when you need it it is
an excellent tool.

Oh
Ray
it was following the thread-bunch of uptight posting police got their
panties in a wad(like you just did) -and hijacked it;
top post ; bottom post-side post
Who the F cares?

ya all need to get a life

Sorry William;
I didn't respond to Ray quick enough, another postin crybaby.
This wasn't intended for you.

You must have read something that I never intended to be read, because I can
assure you that my panties are just fine thank you.
As you say, top posting, bottom posting or whatever. Just follow along with
the first reply and all will be well. We are all smart enough to be able to
grasp which way to read. What is an annoyance though, is when people try and
change the direction of the replies from top to bottom or visa versa.

Ray,
That's fine,
just kills me that people get all wound up and hissy over posting; as to the
feature; which was the original thread; I like the snip tool, and the easy
drag and drop files;along with the start menu search bar doodad. LOL
doodad-that's technical alright!!!
comments from those post ettiquette hijackers kill me.
so now that the thread is back on base, what's your favorite feature?

Jeff

Ray

What's my favorite feature?
A difficult choice as there are so many things I like about Vista.
The secure environment is a change from XP that I'm enjoying, believe it or
not I'm learning a lot about accounts and permissions.
The search is very nice, I'm trying Google desktop on the XP side and that
works well but I'm leery of anything to do with a Google engine on my
machine.
The ability to turn a folder into a toolbar is a keeper for me, I now have
all my shortcuts at hand without cluttering up the desktop.

Oh, and thanks to Jane, the Recycle bin is now named "Garbage"

If he meamt being able to drag a folder to the edge of the screen, or right
click the task bar > Toolbar > New Toolbar, that's been around since Windows
2000 at least.
