Hello everyone,
Ok i've just got a 250GB SATA Harddrive. I've installed it and bios and it
reads a 250GB harddrive. But when i go to install windows xp pro, it only
says i've got 130GB available to install windows on. Can some help me please.

Hi,

You are running into a limit commonly seen in older systems. Your BIOS needs
to support 48 bit LBA, and you need a version of WinXP that includes at
least SP1. Check with the manufacturer for a BIOS update.

I've actually seen many articles that state, you must have an XP CD install
disk with SP1 or SP2 or the install will only see 137GB of the disk. So make
sure you have an XP SP2 install disk or at least get someone to do a
slipstream copy of XP including SP2 for your install. That may fix the issue.
I do note many reports of Mother Boards that will not support larger than the
137GB limit. So if the MOBO is old you may need to replace it. TTFN.

It sounds like you are running a version of Windows older than SP1. At least
SP1 is required to support a drive larger than 137GB.
