Question on Desktop Icon Captions

Frederick

I notice that sometimes XP truncates or otherwise handles Icon
captions differently. For example, I made two folders, one captioned
PROGRAMS, the other INTERNET. One ends up INTERNET, the other
ends up PROGRAM
S

Sometimes the caption appears something like PROG.....

I am wondering why and how I can control this.

Thanks

Your column width on the desktop determines character placement
amongst other things. Different themes other than the default can
change these as well. Needless to say if the column is not wide enough
it can make a mess of things especially with large font sizes.

I think this article pertains to column width in Windows Explorer, not
the Desktop.

I got it. Thanks

Using Control Panel>Appearance>Advanced and increasing the icon
vertical and horizontal spacing a little takes care of it.
Thanks again.
