Question Marks appearing in sent messages

Question marks are appearing throughout the body of messages being sent from
my customer's Outlook 2003 system (they appear to coincide where he's pressed
the 'Enter' key). I've checked the mail format settings against other
properly functioning Outlook 2003 workstations in his office, and there's no
apparent difference (i.e. HTML for message composition). Any suggestions?

What message encoding is this user employing?

After furious head scratching, TD Computer Solutions asked:

Hi Milly

Here's more info than you requested, but I thought it might be helpful....

Under Options--Mail Format--International Options, the preferred encoding
for outgoing messages is "Western European (ISO)". Also in this dialog box,
the first two options ("Use english for message flags" and "Use english for
message headers on replies and forwards") are unchecked. The Encoding Option
"Auto select encoding for outgoing messages" is checked.

Under Options-Mail Format-Internet Format, the HTML options button "When an
HTML message contains picutures....." is checked. The Outlook Rich Text
options is set to "Convert to HTML format", Plain text options automatically
wrap text at 76 characters, and the "Encode attachments in UUENCODE...."
option is unchecked.

Additionally....the default for "Compose in this message format" is HTML.
The option "Use Microsoft Office Word 2003 to edit e-mail messages" is
checked, the option "Use Microsoft Office Word 2003 to read Rich Text e-mail
messages" is unchecked.

One more piece of info....this is an office that will send / receive
information in Chinese.....perhaps there's a language setting that might be
the culprit?

Thanks...
Terry

I would suspect the language setting as the culprit. When you set your encoding to "auto-select encodign for outgoing message" this may affect the mail. What happens if you set a specific encoding rather than let Outlook select it?

I'll make that change this coming Monday for the client, and will let you
know the result.

Thanks,
Terry

Alas, that didn't work.....client is still getting question marks in his sent
messages.
