Question for Ken Slovak - re: preview pane comment

Hi Ken,

In a previous thread titled, "Subject: Re: Alternate data source for
folders/explorers (synthesizing mailitems)", you made the following
statement, "You can't code for the preview pane and you can't code or change
the InfoBar where the status is displayed.". The thread was not specific
about the version of Outlook. Does this statement pertain to Outlook 2007 as
well? The reason I ask is because of the following:

We shortcut items with attachments leaving a stub that identifies the
location of item and it's attachments in another storage location. We would
like to be able to open the attachment inside the preview pane just as
Outlook 2007 does with a non-shortcutted message. I know that I have to
create an event sink for monitoring the BeforeAttachmentOpen event on the
item. However, I have not been able to figure out how to display the
attachment in the preview pane instead of it's HTML stub. Is this even
possible?

Thank you for your help,
Darlene

Thank you. I wasn't sure if the PreviewHandler was what was required. I'll
look into it again. Thanks!
