Question about Windows Updates/network response

Hello, We all know that MS recommends all available Windows/Microsoft updates
be downloaded and applied on a regular basis. My question is: if these
updates are not downloaded and applied, does this cause connectivity
problems? i.e., slower and/or less stable Intranet and Internet connections?
Thanks, Ken the Technician

Nope. Why would it?

I know of computers that are working as well as they did when they
came out of the box that have NEVER had an update (none of mine).

Certainly.

as a network administrator,
having auto updates
would be a big mistake.

one morning you will likely
come in to a corrupted
network because some updates
proved to be incompatible.

however, it is not to say
that updates are not provided
to improve performance, like
with connectivity.

you simply have to manually
pick and choose the updates
which are appropriate for your
system(s).

further, updates from the
computers manufacturer
must also be taken into
consideration,

because they would likely
know the issues with their
hardware and software before
microsoft does.

my suggestion is to pick and
choose which updates could
be applicable to your system

then install them on one
computer only, to test for
compatibility.

No, unless the machine got infected by the vulnerabilities the updates
address.
