Question about using caption and cross reference

I am trying to use the caption/reference tool in a specific way. I
need to be able to have a caption at the end of a line of text. But
when I go to cross reference this caption, it includes everything in
the line the was typed before the caption (even when I remove the
caption formatting from the text). How can I use a caption at the end
of a line of text without having it assume that the previous text is
part of the label? Thank you!

The caption has to be a separate paragraph -- but it doesn't have to
look like one. After your caption is correct and the cross reference
is working like it's supposed to, select the paragraph symbol ONLY of
the previous paragraph (the one you want your caption to appear at the
end of) and mark it Hidden (under Format > Font, or using the keyboard
shortcut).

Alternatively, you can manually insert a bookmark for the label and number
and insert a cross-reference to the bookmark text.
