Question about saving photos to a cd

I have a Toshiba laptop w/ windows xp installed from the
manufacturer purchased in 2002. I also have a Gateway
desktop computor w/ windows xp installed from the
manufacturer purchased in 2002. In "picture tasks" there
is a selection called "copy to cd" in the Gateway computor
but not in the Toshiba. The last category to select from
in the Toshiba is the "print task". So how do I save
pictures from a file to a cd? I am not very computor
literate so please explain in detail, thanks for any info

Try the following first.
Click on Start, click on Run and type the following in the textbox:
REGSVR32 SHIMGVW.DLL
and press the Enter key
Note that there is a space between ...32 and SHI...
See if this brings the Copy to CD command.

Toshiba may have installed some software to copy to CD. Something like Roxio
or others and the software took over XP. If you don't get the Copy to CD
command, right click on your CD drive and click on Properties. A window will
open. Click on the Recording tab of this window and check the box "Enable CD
recording on this drive.

I have tried both of the above and they do not work. In
the cd drive program i clicked on properties and no window
came up that said recording tab. Also when I went to the
HELP menu on the laptop it gave the instructions to click
on "copy to cd" as if the phrase was supposed to be there
under tasks, I am confused.

When you click on Properties, a window should open.
Does a window open or not?
If a window opens, look at the top of this window. You should see some tabs
with names like General, AutoPlay, etc. One of them should be Recording.
Click on it and then check the box "Enable CD recording on this dive" and
click on OK.
