One of my most unreliable feature ever in my computer experience is copying
CD's. I like to know why, whenever I put in a CD into the non-burner CD ROM,
the CD spins and spins and spins. Then the worst part, my burner CD ROM
will always come up with an error message "Window Explorer" E:\is not
accessible, incorrect function. I put in 5 different CD's, none work. I
always thought I had bad CD's. I also purchased the 3 most expensive
programs for CD burning . None of them ever get to that point of working,
because of the access problem of the CD-R. BTW I have Nero 6 Ultra Edition
and CD Creator 6. None of them ever work good. Is there a gentle person that
could help me figure out what might be the problem with my computer not
reading the burner drive and maybe a reason why I can't get the other
programs to work, or ditch all the programs I have and get yet another
program.......... Grandpa Peter

Ok, now for the serious answer;

go to control panel, administrative tools, services

Right click on IMAPI CD-Burning COM Service and click on stop.
Then right click again, go to properties and set startup mode to disabled.
Right click on your cd burner in explorer, properties, recording and make
sure that the box "Enable CD recording on this drive" is empty. Now you have
disabled the internal burning software and this should probably solve your
problems

Hello John, thank you for your reply. I almost got there, but was unable to
follow your instructions after a certain point. When you said: rightclick on
your cd burner in explorer, properties, recording and after that, I can't
find that item, recording and make sure that the box "Enable CD recording on
this drive" is empty. I can't find anything with that statement....Many many
thanks for your help..........Peter

Thanks for letting me know if this solved your problem.
You must be American... good people, but they don't know what "politeness"
means.

some extend you're right. I'm not and American by birth, but I am a proud
American today. Sorry that I offended you nice people that helped me, I
didn't mean that...........Peter
