Just to be clear, this concerns the 'New -> document' (where document is
really the name of some file type) menu that you get when you click on an
empty area of an explorer window.
Normally getting rid of unwanted entries is pretty simple using TweakUI or
by editing the registry directly. However, I have one program (interactual
player to be exact) that has placed an entry on this menu that:
(a) doesn't appear in the list in TweakUI and
(b) only appears in the registry under
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Discardable\PostSetup\ShellNew,
which appears to be generated anew at each login (so deleting the relevant
entry does no good).
So my question is this: how does an application tell the system to put such
an entry in the registry at login (in other words how do I stop it)?
Hoping someone can shed some light on this...
