I accidently set IE to remember past entries in text
boxes so that previous searches, etc are shown each time
I try to type in a box. How do I turn this off? I can't
find the option in the IE options box.
Thanks.

In IE click tools/internet options/content/autocomplete
unselect the 3 options under the "Use Autocomplete for"
section"
Hope it helps !

There is no such option in IE.

Do you maybe mean autocomplete (where you type URLs into the address bar) or
username/password fields (for accessing sites that require logon)?

Thank you very much.

Go to Tools > Internet Options > Contents > AutoComplete. Uncheck web
addresses and forms. Click OK.

Yes there is.

That was helpful.

I do see your point though. I just saw the setting in:
Tools > Internet Options > Content > Auto complete...
I never noticed the "forms" checkbox, which is what the OP was apparently
referring to.

Since Jane had given a good answer, I figured mine was enough to make you
find it. <G>
