Question about dllhost.exe

T

Trent Curry

I noticed today I have a process I did not previous have in my task
list, called dllhost.exe (located in c:\windows\system32.) It did some
reading on google about a possible virus, but it's not eating ram or 99%
cpu cycles like those descriptions give. Its just sitting there at 0%
cpu, and 4mb ram.

I'm wonder what this is. I also installed the .NET Framework the other
day, could this be a result of that?

Thank for any info.

Hi Trent,

Have you checked the location that dllhost.exe is running from? If it is the
\wins sub-directory, then it is the bug. If it's in the \system32 folder,
that's normal.
