query for inactive computer objects

"dsquery computer -inactive" queries for inactive computers who have not
authenticated themselves to the domain within a number of weeks specified.
for me this command does not return any errors but also does not return any
values. this is a 2003 AD, and im positive i have at least 50 machines that
have not authenticated themselves in over 3 months, many of which dont exist
anymore. can anyone help with this? or is there another way of going about
this?
