Query column for unique values

I have a worksheet that has numerous duplicate values in a column. I'd like
to do the equivalent of a SQL "select distinct" but don't know how to do
this in Excel. For example, if I have 100 values in a column and only 75
are unique, I'd like to make another column that returns only the unique
values from the first.
 
Use data>advanced filter, copy to another location and unique values only
