quattro pro wont work

I have a work computer that i keep all my work files on. Its not connected
to the internet and ive had it for five years. Its a dell dimension 2400
desktop. I keep my construction accounts on it and all of a sudden it wont
let me access them. it lists the five most recent that ive used and will
sometimes let me access one of those, but most of the time it tells me i cant
access anything
 
You have a backup of data on external media?
If not you need to do that NOW.
What happens if you start quattro itself, any err msg, if so *exactly* what?
