Anyone know an easy way to remove the QuickTime applet from the Control
Panel? I looked in TweakUI, but it does not appear to be listed.

It (QuickTime) should be in the Control Panel listing, as
quicktime.cpl - QuickTime Control Panel. Which version
of Tweak-UI are using (Latest 2.10.0.0).

Otherwise, you can search for the quicktime.cpl and just
rename it. Quicktime rivals AOL in the "Whack-A-Mole"
game of controlling/configuring it. I really dislike the way
the Quicktime startup comes back again & again.

I'm using the latest TweakUI, but it's not listed.

It may be that QuickTime 7's applet is installed differently than version
6's.

I did a search for quicktime.cpl and did not find it.

If you want to stop seeing qttask.exe added back to your list
of startup applications every time you use Quicktime, try
renaming qttask.exe to something like qttask.exe.old. Renaming
the file will have no effect on the Quicktime viewer. You
should find the file in your C:\Program Files\Quicktime folder.

Not familiar with QuickTime 7, as I use Version 6.0

What you might do ( if you're Registry capable) is check the following
Key:

HKey_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\
\Control Panel\Cpls

If you do locate the answer - Please post back the solution.

Your suggestion to check the registry worked!

I used the following to remove the offending entry:

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Control
Panel\Cpls]
"QuickTime"="C:\\Program Files\\QuickTime\\QTSystem\\QuickTime.cpl"

Thanks for your help. Much appreciated.
