Hi,

What exactly is the limit in Excel as far as calculating whole numbers
consisting of may digits.

Also, is Excel limited to the 255 or so colums and limited to only the
65K and some rows ?

Thanks,
Jim

15 significant digits is Excel's limit. Any digits after that show as zeros.

256 columns and 65536 rows is Excel's limit in all versions from Excel 97
onward.

Hey, Gord:

If you declare variable type decimal and do not use the decimal point, you can
represent in Excel whole numbers as
high as
79,228,162,514,264,337,593,543,950,335
which is pretty close to 29 significant
figures.

No, you can represent in VBA numbers like that. Excel represents numbers
in IEEE double precision which is about 15 significant digits.
