Q about "send a link"

IE6 -- v 6.0.2800.1106.xpsp2.030422-1633 ; Update version sp1; Q822925;
Q330994

Since upgrading from WinMe to XPPro, IE6's "send a link" behavior seems to
have changed slightly. Under WinME, it used to create an attachment with
the link *and* place the link in the message body. Now it only creates the
attachment. Is there a way to alter it so it again places a link in the
message body? (to avoid confusing friends less computer literate, I used to
delete the attachment and just leave the link in the message body - I'd like
to be able to do that again).

TIA

What I would like to know is what is happening when we switch into
Source mode and drag that attachment down into the source.
All indications are that something is working but nothing changes?
(c.f. by doing the same drag operation to a Notepad window).
(If that worked you could either leave it as is ([InternetShortcut] URL=...)
or pare it down to just the URL.)

FWIW I find it almost as easy to copy the link from the Address bar
(Alt-d,Ctrl-c) or from right-click, Copy Location, then do a Tools, Mail..., New...
(Alt-T,M,w) and paste the link in then. (Search Jim Byrd's posts
for graburl.htm for information on how to get the latter option.)

Alternatively you could do a Send by Page and then edit the source
to pare it down to just the URL. (e.g. I see a base href= in there
which seems to be the same as the original URL).

Robert.........

I guess I will just copy the links into new eml's -- a little less
convenient than the old way, but not so great a burden. I tried out what
you had played with -- and don't understand, either, why nothing at all is
added to the source when dragging the attachment into it (as opposed to
dragging it into a text editor)......??

Thanks
