Pulling information from an outside source to a document in Word

I would like to create a letter in Word and pull information such as a name
and address from a source that is not Microsoft. At this time I have no idea
in what format I would receive that information - perhaps a csv doc, but
again, I'm uncertain at this time. I don't know what method I'd use to
create the letter - mail merge, a template, a macro, or if another tool would
be better. Is this possible? If I need to supply more information, please
let me know.

You can certainly do a mailmerge with a csv file.
 
What if I used a macro to create each letter as I needed it? I think that is
the more likely scenario. I'm working on getting more concise information
about this request.

I now know that I will not be getting more info. I believe we will use
Crystal or PeopleSoft to bridge the gap and do a merge as needed, something I
didn't know was an option. I still don't know if this will come as a csv
file or not, but if we can use what comes, we will, if we need to ask for
something else, we will. Thank you for your time. Maybe this will help
someone else.
