Publishing Files

G

Guest

I am having trouble publishing files to my web server. I get an error
message that reads something like: "server error: write error on file
'/home/sites/site63/web/folder/filename.html.tmp' "

The thing that throws me is the *.tmp. I don't publish temporary files.
I've contacted my ISP, but I have only been able to leave a message thus far
(they haven't responded yet).

Anyone have a clue what's going on? I can't publish anymore files!

Thanks

Go here: http://www.95isalive.com/fixes/fpclean.htm
and download FP Cleaner.

Run the two functions that clear the FrontPage Temporary and Web Cache files.

Then see what happens.

Ask you host to run check on the extensions and/or check the permissions for your account.

That happens to me when I am out of web space on the server, time for me to clean up or upgrade to more storage.

Have checked permissions and that is OK, but not sure how to check the
extensions. The ISP indicates that the extensions are installed. I've not
had this problem until the last day or so.

Not sure what you mean by a local IIS or remote server (I'm not a techie, I
guess). I work on my computer and publish to a server which is our web host.
This server is operated by a seperate company. I've not had any trouble
like this until this week for some reason.

You may be running out of web storage space...check with your host and see what your particular hosting package allows.

Can you login to the live site with FP?

If you can't and you're on a linux/unix server, see if you have access to CPanel...this will tell you if you're running out of storage space. You access this with your browser not FP.

Some Windows servers have a similar utility but I'm not sure what it's called.

remote server is your web host
local IIS is a server you might be running on your PC

Can you open your hosted site
(using File Open Site and entering your URL as http://www.yoursite.com/)
And run a Tool Recalculate Hyperlinks
