publishing changes the name of my home page

Malcolm

I'm using Frontpage 2003beta to maintain around 10
websites. On certain sites (two that I've noticed so
far), Frontpage insists on automatically renaming my
index.html file to default.htm on the server. It leaves
my local file alone, but every time it publishes the site
to the server, it renames it.

If I'd wanted my home page to be called Default.htm, I'd
have called it that myself. I do NOT want Frontpage to
change it for me. Is there a setting somewhere in
Frontpage that controls this? Or is it dictated by some
setting on the server perhaps?

Thanks for any help!

You must contact your host to move or add index.html to be the first
document name in the default document list on the server.

The FP extensions will always during publishing use the first default
document name.

When I open live and publish to my local hard drive it saves the index.html
file that is live to default.html on my hard drive - is there a way to
prevent this?

Rename you local home page to the same filename as your server uses
