Publish problem - page at a time

S

Steve Banks

When I publish "a page at a time", the navigation bar
does not appear at the bottom of the page on our web
site, even though it does appear in FrontPage and the
page is linked in if I use the navigation view.

By publishing a page at a time, I mean using View -
Reports - Files - All Files, sort by Modified Date, then
right click - Publish Selected Files..., for each file
modified since the last time we know that we published.

How can I fix this? Are there any other disadvantages to
publishing a page at a time? TIA...

Use File Menu | Publish Web and select change pages only, this will allow FP to publish everything
that has changed in the web, include the navigation structure.

We used to do that, but with increasing frequency over
the last few years we receive the error

The server "" timed out. The current request did not
complete successfully.

after several minutes. That's why we changed to the page
at a time method.

If you are working with a large web, then consider breaking it into smaller sections (subwebs).

When you upload a single page, that is all that is being uploaded, doesn't include any external
components, such as navigations, themes, etc.
