(All the above found from links at http://www.afn.org/~afn07097/music/ which
has a large number of music and radio related links, although the page is
somewhat dated)

I installed it on my Windows ME box. Wen trying to run the program, I
got an error message about "MSVCRT.DLL." This is one of those DLLs that
inconsiderate programmers overwrite whenever they feel self-justified in
doing so without warning. Like, say, you're installing an old program
and it overwrites a new version of MSVCRT.DLL with an older one. And all
of a sudden, your computer is screwed up and various other trusty
programs won't run any more. This is similar to the thoughtlesness that
gives us modules that bear no internal identification whatsoever showing
what the module is, what it's called, what it does, which program it
belongs to, who made it, etc., etc. Just "foobar.dll" and code.

I noticed that the install routine sets up a large amount of files that
begin to look like bloat and errors waiting to happen. Don't know. Maybe
I'm being paranoid. I checked my system and actually found different
versions of MSCCRT.DLL in a few directories. The latest versions were
already in place in both \Windows\System and \System32. I cleaned off
duplicates in those directories, but this didn't permit the program to
run any better than before: the error message still popped up and the
thing locked. I could try re-installling it. I may write to the only
contact shown on WAMC's web site.

But there's already a free podcast service that you might like to know
about!!! http://www.odeo.com

Odeo is a collection of ready-do-download podcasts (MP3) and live
streams. Some of the podcasts are from US public radio. For example, I
heartily recommend Christopher Lydon's "Open Source." Yes: Lydon's back
on the radio again in Boston -- with blogsite input. In other words,
shows are developed per suggestions from listeners. Lydon's my favorite
talk show host and interviewer, always with outstanding, informed
guests. Hear why! I think that he's addictive.

Another nice download is Jack Clark's "Blast the Right," focused on
loony neocon and religious logic; it's entertaining too. If you want
radical right propaganda, you'll probably find on Odeo, too.

Odeo is klutzy -- I can't for the life of me figure out how to navigate
the thing. It's slow. But it does indeed work. I download the shows to a
directory on my HD, then dowload the contents of that directory to my
MP3 player.
