PTR record not created immediately

Our DHCP server is setup to dynamically register records with DNS. However, for hosts that are in a trusted "Resource" domain, a PTR record is not created until half-way through the lease period (when the client attempts to RENEW). For hosts in the same domain as DHCP/DNS, there are no problems.

Any information would be much appreciated.

Have you made the machine name that DHCP is on a member of the
DnsUpdateProxy Group?

If no, in ADUC seclect the properties of the machine account that DHCP
service is running on, on the Member of tab add the DnsProxyUpdate group,
that should give DHCP the permissions it needs to register.

Use the setting in DHCP to always update DNS.
