.pst troubles

I have been trying to restore my Outlook settings after reformatting my hard
drive. I copied all the settings onto another computer using the transfer
files wizard and that copied all the Outlook settings.

On the computer I backed up to Outlook.pst was in the following location:

C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook\Microsoft\Outlook\Microsoft\Outlook

(I do not know why so many folders were created it was not something I did)

The following files were in the following location:

outcmd.dat, Outlook.fav, Outlook, Outlook.srs, OutlPrnt, VIEWS, Work.fav,
Work.srs,

C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

This setup works and included all my e-mail accounts.

So I copied Outlook.pst from

C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook\Microsoft\Outlook\Microsoft\Outlook

on my old computer to:

C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook

on my new computer.

I also copied

outcmd.dat, Outlook.fav, Outlook, Outlook.srs, OutlPrnt, VIEWS, Work.fav,
Work.srs

from

C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

on my old computer to

C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

on my new computer.

Everything seems to have copied apart from the mail accounts and because I
have used filters to sort out my e-mails into folders if I recreate the
accounts then it starts downloading all the old e-mails that I already have
sorted into sub-folders.

Another thing that happens is that when I loaded Outlook another file was
created in

C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

called Outlook~1.srs

Can anyone please tell me what is happening and how to make sure that my
e-mail accounts are transferred as well as everything else?

Thanks

If I follow the process correctly it would appear you overwrote the pst
file, which will likely have caused either corruption of the Profile or pst

It is not neccessary to store the pst in the default location

Thanks for the answer, what still don't understand is why Outlook~1.srs was
created in:

C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

When the location that it is set up to look at is:

C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook

Also what are the .fav and .srs files for?

Anyway I will try copying the files again as it should be uncorrupted on the
computer that I copied it from as it is still working correctly on that one.

Thanks again.
