.pst backup on disk of calendar, contacts, personal folders

Hi All,
Before I bought a new home computer, I backed up my Outlook 2003 Contacts,
Calendar and Personal Folders to a CD, and it took days to figure that out.
It was the only way I knew. I think the CD is read only. Can I get my LIFE
back by exporting from the disk back into the new Outlook 2003? Oh, my, what
a mess, what have I done...

Just move the file to your hard drive and remove the read only attribute.
Then open it in Outlook to retrieve your data.

Thank you!
1. My friends installed Outlook (in MS Office) on my new PC and it had
empty personal folders, calendar, contacts.
2. I have the RW *.pst files moved from the CD backup to my hard drive.
When I went to file/open outlook data file/outlook.pst AND archive.pst, NOW I
HAVE 2 SETS OF PERSONAL FOLDERS.
PROBLEM IS: Calendar appt. reminders work in the new Outlook only but all
my calendar dates are on the second calendar. Contacts are in second set of
Personal Folders only. What a mess for a compulsive wannabe.
Thinking I should uninstall Outlook and try to save my data in the proper way.
Been at this all day....Thanks for your HELP! -Susan

Just copy what you want from the old PST file into your new one.
Be sure you copy the contents of the Folders, not the Folders themselves.
For the Calendar, use a view that lists all the Items, like the Category
view.
Close the old PST when you're done.

As an alternative to Russ' suggestion, you can also change your delivery
location to the PST containing the information you want. Click Tools>E-mail
Accounts>Next and at the bootom left, change the drop-down point to the PST
containing your desired data.

Please only post if you can be helpful or accurate. You can be rude if you
want. That's your choice.
The method you posted is dead wrong. Importing and exporting is never the
correct way to transfer a PST file.
Brian's method works fine.
The method I posted is slightly more time consuming, but the reason it is
recommended is that it will preserve the ability for users upgrading to
Outlook 2003 to take advantage of the new PST file format.
