Bought a PC from John Lewis back in 1999 and the service was 1st class.
Extended warranty for free, back up support & help desk 1st rate and at a lo-call number.
Go to your local John Lewis (if you have one near to you) to have a look at them, ask for a test, may be take a film or music cd to test with and ask the questions you want to.

still did not get it

I went out to see this one in person:

http://www.johnlewis.com/Computing/Computers/Computers/Laptops/398/230404096/Product.aspx

it is small and good.
i noticed that when i went into system properties it only showed 798 out of 890 or something like that mb of course
it didnt say 1gb im sure of that
anyways while i was there i saw this one:

http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/product/seo/334350

it looks so nice
the size is smaller and the screen looks 5 times more better and brighter

so i came home looked around and decided that this was the one to get:

http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/GENNA/65...Notebook_Laptop/Product.html?searchtype=genre

but at the time I ordered it. it was £629 and that looked like a bargain to me!
Imo this is an intel centrino 1.73ghz a real bargain so i thought.

well all this bs abt verifying my payment means that when I rang them today they said that they are out of stock on this item
i am so ****ed off right now

I knew this laptop was hard to find because none else seems to have the intel version of it and like i said good bloody price.

well when i went to comets yesterday i saw the fujitsu one there
same specs except they had a 2gb model for sale for £599
but it was the display model.

the bloke from play said it could take up to 28 days untill this laptop comes into stock
i dont think i can afford to wait that long

so what would u do?

Don't know to be honest psd - normally you don't take much notice of the suggestions anyway and do your own thing

OK - sensible time :)

The reason why the John Lewis one shows less than the 1GB of RAM installed is because it has integrated graphics which uses up 256MB of it to run.

You haven't said what it would primarily be used for, but of all the suggestions here - I personally would go with Quads suggestion and add another 512MB of RAM - it is a quality machine, has a better T5500 Core2Duo CPU and XP Pro.

You can get a 512MB module from Crucial for the Lenovo for £48.16 delivered (1GB is £90) - just check what the current RAM configeration is, is it 2 x 256MB or 1 x 512MB? (it has 2 RAM slots).

The total for the Lenovo would then come to £685, just 6 pounds more for much better quality, a better CPU and XP Pro :thumb:
